Privacy policy and cookies.

This page explains what happens to personal data when you visit arvydev.com or write to us. We keep the collection small on purpose, so the list below is short.

Who is responsible

The controller of the data described here is ArvyDev, MB, company code 305974868, VAT LT100015407714, based in Vilnius, Lithuania.

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, an optional company name and your message. We use them for one purpose: to read your enquiry and reply to it, usually with an estimation. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us.

Submissions are delivered to our mailbox by email. The website itself keeps no database of enquiries, and we do not use these addresses for newsletters or marketing.

Google Analytics, only if you agree

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and how people find the site. It is switched off until you accept it in the cookie banner. Decline, and no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.

If you accept, Google Analytics records the pages you view, the site or search engine that referred you, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device and browser details. We see aggregate reports, not individual identities, and we never try to identify a visitor from them.

Cookies used: _ga and _ga_XCKK62T8ZB, set by Google Analytics, expiring after up to two years.
Google Ireland Limited acts as our processor and may transfer data to servers outside the EU under the safeguards Google publishes, including EU standard contractual clauses.

Our own visitor statistics

Alongside Google Analytics we keep a small set of visitor statistics on our own server. This one runs for everyone, because it is built so that it cannot identify you. It sets no cookies and writes nothing to your device: no cookies, no local storage, nothing.

For each page view it records the page, the language, the site and page you came from with the query string removed, any campaign tags in the link you followed, whether you are on a phone, a tablet or a desktop, the width of your browser window, how long the page stayed visible and how far down it was scrolled. A rough country is added only when our host supplies one, which is often not the case. It also notes when a link takes you off the site or opens your mail app, and records a sent contact form as a conversion on the page it was sent from.

Your IP address is never stored. It is combined with the details your browser reports about itself and a random secret that we replace every day, and only the resulting one-way fingerprint is kept, so that we can count visitors instead of page views. Because that secret changes daily, the same person visiting on two days looks like two visitors to us. We accepted that limit on purpose.

While a daily secret is still alive, someone holding both it and the server logs could in principle work back from a fingerprint to a visitor, so that short window rests on our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful. Once the secret is deleted, the rows are anonymous and no longer personal data at all. Either way there is nothing to consent to, because nothing is stored on or read from your device.

The daily secret is deleted two days after it is created, and from then on nobody, including us, can connect a fingerprint back to anything.
The fingerprint itself is erased from the stored rows after seven days, leaving only the anonymous page view.
Those anonymous rows are then kept indefinitely. The page, the referrer, the device details and the timings all stay; only the fingerprint goes.
Everything is stored in a database on our own hosting in the EU and is not passed to any third party.

What the site stores on your device

Two small values are kept in your browser local storage rather than in cookies. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. Like any web server, the hosting platform records standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept by the hosting provider under its own retention rules and are not used by us for analytics or profiling.

How long we keep things

Email correspondence stays in our mailbox for as long as the enquiry or the client relationship is relevant, and is deleted when it no longer is. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for the period set in the property, after which it is deleted automatically. Our own visitor statistics have their own retention periods, described in the section above. Your consent choice remains on your device until you clear it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time, which does not affect anything done before the withdrawal.

Write to arvydas@arvydev.com and we will respond within one month. If you believe we handled your data badly, you can also complain to the State Data Protection Inspectorate of Lithuania, the supervisory authority at ada.lt.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or the tools we use, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
